On Tuesday the 10th September , 2019, Alexandra School, Amritsar , hosted the Arch Bishop of Canterbury, United Kingdom, the Most Reverend and Right Honorable Justin Welby and his wife Mrs. Caroline Welby along with his six- member team and the Bishop of Diocese of Amritsar, The Most Revd.(Dr.) P.K. Samantaroy and his wife Revd. Lilly Samantaroy. The purpose of the visit was to dedicate the new building block in the memory of Miss I Mar former Principal of the school from 1934 to 1974. The Bishop The Most Revd. (Dr.) P.K. Samantaroy along with the Principal Mrs. Suman Jannett Engles took the entourage on a tour of the school. It was a very special day for all the students and staff of the school. A cultural program was presented on the occasion. There was a gathering of about 3000 people from all around Amritsar who had come to listen to him. He delivered a speech in which he exhorted all to live in harmony with one another. His speech was very engrossing and impressive. We were inspired by his ideals of simple living and high thinking.
